ARTOS Beta – Series (Beta 1 and Beta 2) is coined by a lively animated surface. The fabric is rather dense and of high stiffness. Stiff in the direction of the weft and flexible in the other direction, this wire-cloth has its optimum application as wall- or ceiling elements, on facades or as partition walls.

Stainless steel Standard V2A

(Option V4A possible)

In the German-speaking world, two different blanket terms are used for VA stainless steels. The two most common are “V2A” and “V4A.” Both grades are found in all ARTOS products.

 

V2A Stainless Steel

(alternative designations: product no. 1.4301, AISI 304, and X5CrNi18/10)

 

A commonly used stainless steel found in everyday applications, e.g., metal construction, such as vehicles and sinks, and in the food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics industries.

 

NOTE: V2A should not be used in coastal environments (due to salty air and drifting sand), in metropolitan areas (due to acid rain caused by smog), or in swimming pools (due to the high chlorine content of the surroundings). Only V4A materials are suitable for these applications.

 

V4A Stainless Steel

(alternative designations: product no. 1.4404, AISI 316L, and X2CrNiMo17-12-2)

 

Similar to V2A stainless steel but is additionally alloyed with 2% Mo. This makes the stainless steel more resistant to corrosion in chloride-containing media. V4A stainless steel is used in saltwater, swimming pools, and the chemical industry.

The specification “light transmittance TL in accordance with DIN EN 410” applies to the wavelength range of 380–780 nm for visible light. It is weighted according to the brightness perceived by the human eye and given as a percentage. With the absolute reference of 100%, e.g., a wall opening is meant.

Uptown Munich / Germany

Stainless steel for Uptown Munich Transparency, elegance, simplicity and structure. Precious metals as a design element provide cool elegance to the reception hall of Munich’s new landmark, a 146-meter high office tower.

 

In contrast to the natural stone floor, stainless-steel wire-mesh is glistening in the most elegant way. The fixing brackets and accessories are especially made by Kufferath for this project.

 

Daylight shines through the glass facade into the building. If required additional lighting from the floor is turned on. Thereby the visitor is confronted, depending on the time of day, with a constantly changing impression of the basic architectural form.

 

More than 6,000 kilograms of the beta 1 wire-mesh type were used for the 836 square meter surface, thus forming the gleaming focal point of the lobby.

LuxConnect Bettembourg / Luxemburg

The technical equipment mounted on the roof of the LuxConnect data centre needed a solar shading solution, so the architects at Paczowski et Fritsch Sarl were brought in to find a solution.

 

The creative ideas of the architects were made possible through a new development in the area of fabric facades, which was used on a large scale for the first time ever in this project. The fully concealed and completely flat fastening system with horizontally running warp cables did not require additional prestressing, making it ideal for the already planned steel substructure.

 

The fabric type ‘Beta 1’ was used in a modified form. Fabric webs of length 12.50 m and width 3.50 m were mounted in a free-floating manner at lofty heights on prefabricated tenter frames.

 

The distinctive material properties of the stainless steel fabric for this building are set against the dark facade to create a stark contrast. The monolithic structure is situated in the hilly landscape surrounding Bettembourg and the shimmering band of stainless steel fabric can be seen from a great distance.

 

A total of 18 large-scale frames were constructed over only two on-site installation days.
