Velaro Series 401 is an embossed design element for creative use in floor coverings and building structures. The highly raised embossing allows architects to combine safety features with an attractive look.

It is used predominantly in flooring but is also suitable as a design feature.

High-quality stainless steel

In the German-speaking region there are two generic VA steel designations for stainless (non-rusting) steel. The two most common are V2A and V4A.

V2A stainless steel

(Alternative designations:
Material No. 1.4301, AISI 304 or X5CrNi18/10)

A stainless steel used frequently for everyday applications, e.g. for metal structures, vehicles and sinks, and that is also used in the foodstuff, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.

NOTE: V2A material should not be used in coastal regions (due to salt content in the air and sand drift), in conurbations (acid rain due to smog) or in swimming pools (high chlorine content in environment). Only V4A materials are suitable for use in these conditions.

V4A stainless steel

(Alternative designations:
Material No. 1.4404, AISI 316L or X2CrNiMo17-12-2)

Is similar to V2A stainless steel but with 2% molybdenum added. This makes the steel more resistant to corrosion in chloride-containing media. V4A stainless steel is used in salt water, swimming pools and the chemical industry.
